Principal Vacancy Applications Are Open


The Baptist Theological College of Southern Africa was established in 1951, and provides both undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications to contact and distance learning students from various evangelical denominations.

Applications are being sought for the role of Principal to oversee the effective functioning of the College, to raise the public profile of the College, and to expand its resource base where possible. This role will commence in January 2023.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provide the overall academic and spiritual leadership of the College.
  • Ensure that the College meets the requirements of the Baptist Union of South Africa in terms of theological content, practice, and ministerial training.
  • Promote the identity and values of the College vision by looking at long-term goals and plans.
  • Manage and monitor the performance of all full-time and part-time faculty members.
  • Actively cultivate relationships and partnerships with stakeholders and donors outside of the College, both locally and globally.
  • Ensure that the College is compliant with, and aligns to, the required standards of all legislative and educational regulatory bodies.
  • Conduct lectures both face-to-face and virtually to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, and provide supervision to students undertaking their postgraduate studies.
  • Serve as primary College spokesperson, and preside at public occasions.
  • Oversee and integrate areas of academics, student life, institutional operations, finances, human resources and compliance.

Minimum Education:

  • Master of Theology
  • Doctorate in Theology would be an advantage

Minimum Work Experience:

  • At least 8-10 years in a senior leadership position within a church (such as a pastor) or evangelical Christian organization
  • 3 years’ experience in a similar role would be an advantage
