Frontier, a gap-year programme supplied by BTC, is a guided year of ministry exposure with a missions emphasis. FRONTIER offers accredited courses, intentional discipleship, transformational ministry involvement and ministry coaching by leaders within and outside our Baptist Union Churches.
We aim to build leadership capacity and various other competencies into the individual. This will be done through a sure theological foundation, coupled with practical, hands-on ministry involvement at local and International Church level. This year-long program aims at developing a leadership platform for younger leaders with a view to full-time Christian ministry.
Frontier is an amazing program that has already taught me so much more about God, ministry and people, even though we are only three months into the year. I have really enjoyed the activities we have undertaken so far, especially the mission trip we went on to New Xanagas in Botswana. There we did all types of ministry from visitation to children’s ministry and I learnt so much about myself and others and how we can use our gifts and talents to serve God. Frontier is also very helpful in exposing us to all types of ministry, which is great because it can help us to see the value of each one and the many ways in which we can play a role and make a difference in each of them be it something big or small. I can’t wait to see what else I’ll discover and experience by doing Frontier.
So far, Frontier has given me practical ways to minister to those living in poverty, pain, depravity and brokenness. I have learnt that we should not only strive to witness God’s work but also allow him to use us to initiate His work in others. We are god’s children – constantly being carved by his loving hands through our service in the ministry. When we live in tune with the beautiful symphony of the Lord’s work, everything we say and do becomes an exquisite outpouring of His love. That is what I have experienced in serving our heavenly Father through missions.
Frontier has been an awesome experience so far. I’ve enjoyed getting to know the team and serving God in missions. I’m excited for what’s to come and hopeful that our team will be able to do God’s will. I have learnt quite a lot about myself and the people in my team and I am expecting to learn a lot more over the rest of the year.
