Your journey toward a Theological qualification begins here! Before clicking the ‘Enrol’ button, please read through the ‘Application and Enrolment Journey’ below to familiarise yourself with the process.

APPLICATION AND ENROLMENT JOURNEY

1. Decide which programme
you want to pursue

You are able to choose from a Higher Certificate of Theology (HCTh), Higher Certificate in Ministry (HCMin), Bachelor of Biblical Studies (BBib), Bachelor of Theology Honours (BTh Hons) or Master of Theology (MTh) programme.


2. Decide how you want to
complete your studies

If you are completing a BBib or BTh, you have the choice of Contact Study at our campus in Randburg, or Distance (Self) Study. If you opt for Distance Study, you will be provided with course material that will guide you through the Semester, as well as a list of the necessary text books. Short videos are also provided by the lecturer of the course to aid you in your studies. Please note that there are no lectures for Distance Study.
The Certificate Programmes and Master of Theology are only offered via Distance Study

3. Decide when you
want to start studying

If you are enrolling for the Certificate of Ministry, the Certificate of Theology, or the Master of Theology you are able to register at any point and begin your studies shortly after registration.

If you are registering for the BBib or BTh, you will be enrolled before the start of the next Semester (beginning Feb and mid-July).

4. Create your Student Profile
and Register to study

Create your student profile on the BTC Nexsis portal and follow the prompts to register. Please note you will need to pay a registration fee of R200 to register, as well as have some documentation (ID, Matric Certificate etc) ready to submit with your application. If at any point you need to pause your application, you will be able to return to the registration at a later stage and pick up where you left off.

5. Wait for your Acceptance
into the Programme

If you have met the requirements you will be sent an acceptance letter. Once you receive your acceptance letter, you will be requested to pay a R5000 upfront fee which will cover the cost of your registration, technology fee, and a portion of your study costs. You will also be sent information on how to choose your courses.

6. Make Payment and complete
Your course selection

Make the payment into the BTC bank account or via the Yoco Online Payment Link and complete the Course Selection process on the Nexsis Portal.

7. Receive your BTC
'Welcome Pack'

The BTC Welcome pack will be sent to you which includes your BTC Office365 account. This account gives you access to the Schoology online Learning Management Platform where you will find your course material; EBSCO host where you are able to access articles and certain course books as well as the MS Office suite. In the welcome pack you will also receive necessary information and tutorials regarding study at BTC

9. Make your 'milestone'
payments

Our finance department will send you a quotation once you are accepted, followed by an invoice and regular statements. Your total study fees, less your R5000 upfront payment, need to be paid in two milestones - 50% two months after you commence studies, and the balance 2 months later. This will be explained to you by the finance department.

10. Complete your Course
selections each semester.

At the end of each Semester, you will be required to register for the following Semester and complete the course selection for the next period of your studies.

Click below to access the Nexsis Portal.  Once on the portal, click ‘Create New Account’ to create a profile.  Once you’ve accessed the portal, you’ll be able to click on “Apply to study”.

HOW DOES the 'master of theology' work?

A number of steps, or phases, exist within the MTh programme. This outline will assist you to get an overview of the Master’s programme at BTC:

  1. Once accepted, the candidate submits a preliminary research proposal to the Post Graduate Committee
  2. The PGC appoints a Supervisor to supervise the student throughout the MTh journey 
  3. The candidate and supervisor work together on the official proposal, and submit to the PGC. The proposal is approved by the BTC Board.
  4. The Candidate is inducted as a MTh-Student at BTC
  5. The student and supervisor provide a project timeline to the Dean of Studies.
  6. The student makes monthly payments whilst completing the MTh research
  7. Once the research thesis is complete and edited, it is submitted for examination by an external examiner
  8. The student also provides a publishable journal article to the Dean of Studies
  9. An oral defence of the thesis is conducted 
  10. The student graduates with an MTh from BTC
