Baptist union recognition
This process seeks to assist students and past-students with the process involved in applying to be on one of the Baptist Union ministerial lists.
The following process is involved:
- Applicants are to read the information below to assess whether they qualify to apply for recognition on one of the ministerial lists of the Baptist Union. The four primary requirements are as follows:
- The applicant must have been in current membership and good standing of a Baptist Union Church for at least one year
- The applicant must have completed a 4-year equivalent (480 credit) theological degree. The applicant will be considered for an interview in their final year of studies.
- The applicant must have successfully passed the Baptist Principles course at either BTC or CTBS
- The applicant must be in a called ministry position in a Baptist Union church, fellowship or recognised Baptist Union Ministry and be in good standing with the Union. Should candidates not be in a called position, they can apply to be on the Candidates list.
- If the Applicant meets the requirements above, the applicant needs to download this form, complete it, and email it to [email protected] and [email protected]
- The applicant should forward the Church Recommendation section of the application to their pastor, who should complete their section and submit it to [email protected] and [email protected]
- The Ministerial Recognition Committee will assess the application form, and if the applicant qualifies for an interview, the applicant will be notified of the interview which will take place over Zoom at the end of May.
- The Applicant should notify the Registar via [email protected] that they have applied, so that the College can invite them to a zoom session before their interview to assist in preparing them for the interview.
- Once the interview has been conducted, if the applicant is successful, he/she will be assigned a Ministerial Advisor who will shepherd the candidate for a period of two years and give a report to the Baptist Union on the applicants suitability to be accepted onto the fully accredited list.
